Akershus Castle
Constructed as a medieval fortification in the late 1200, Akershus Castle was in the 1600 used as a Royal Residence by king Christina IV. Throughout history Akershus Castle has been a symbol of national independence and identity.
During the 2nd World War the Germans used the premises as one of their Head Quarters. In the civil Resistance Museum we find a comprehensive documentation of the 5 years of German occupation.
